The Odora'24 Conference on Odour Management in the Environment, taking place at the BEC on 5th and 6th November, is delighted to announce that the Department of Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability of the Basque Government is collaborating this time as the Main Sponsor of the event.
The seventh International Odour Management Conference, ODORA24, has travelled through various cities and countries. Here in Euskadi, we have had the privilege of hosting two editions, and this will be the third. The Department of Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability of the Basque Government has supported each of these editions in its commitment to advance a long-term framework of coexistence between our citizens and our industry. This conference, which brings together the leading experts in industrial odour management, is an ideal platform to discuss all possible alternatives in this field, and therefore we have decided to support it once again.
Given the industrial history of this community, and the diversity of industrial activities that converge in our territory, the Basque Government has always led new initiatives for monitoring and controlling pollution in all its forms. All of this is focused on ensuring increasingly healthier environments where both economic activity and life in general can coexist.
In the realm of air pollution, the emission of atmospheric pollutants is an aspect that is regulated at the community level, and its control and monitoring are subject to regulations aimed at reduction and limitation. Additionally, air quality regulations govern the concentrations of ambient air that must be met to protect human health and ecosystems. However, regarding odours, there is currently no community regulation that establishes minimum requirements for their management.
In line with the Euskadi Air Quality Plan 2030, which already establishes actions related to the characterisation of odours in problematic areas, the Basque Government sponsors this conference with a firm commitment to deepen and advance the resolution of odour-related issues.
According to statements from the Basque Government, “The Odour Management Conference in the Environment ODORA 2024 is an opportunity to gather experts in odour management from both businesses and public organisations and to delve into resolving odour-related issues. Odour as an environmental impact is a challenge that must be addressed by all levels, and the Basque Government intends to contribute to this as outlined in one of the actions of the Euskadi Air Quality Plan 2030.”
