We have recently received some queries regarding whether we will offer the opportunity for online attendance to this the conference. We are offering discounted prices for those who would prefer to attend the conference remotely. The cost of registration for online attendance is considerably lower. Previously, during the early days of the pandemic, it was unclear whether we could host the conference face to face or have to resort to a solely online event. The following article explains our current position. We will regularly update this post as conditions change.
Throughout 2021, we attended only online conferences related to odour management, WEF, NOSE, CASANZ etc. Although it is wonderful to attend a meeting remotely and continue sharing ideas, we missed out on an integral part of meeting for conferences...networking.
Networking, cannot be easily replaced by an online forum, a chat or a platform with animations and online chatting such as the one you see in this picture of the last WEF conference. Very cool, but still, the glass of wine you see in the picture was not real.:-(
We know that organizing a conference can be challenging. We have organized already quite a few. Furthermore, we agree that remote conferences have great advantages such as avoiding travel and accommodation costs, the possibility to check the presentations later, a usually lower cost among other things. We have embraced this new philosophy, and thus we have organized several online events related to odour management... but not this time.
Unfortunately, at this stage we will allow registrations for a remote event just to countries that ban their citizens to travel at all from their country. This is, to our knowledge, only Australia and China. Please note that if we do not reach a minimum of 20 people registered to cover at least broadcasting expenses, we will not offer a remote event. In this case, we will refund the money to remote attendees from these countries. We will open the registration for remote attendees 1 month before the event commences.*
Also, our sponsors are asking for a minimum attendance in person, which is reasonable. We have already many sponsoring companies that are looking for people to be there, and we have signed with some of them agreements with a minimum number of attendees. We are aiming to be the major event on odour management this year, and we pretend it to be the best experience for those attending this event.
If you want to know more about our events, check these quick snapshots of previous events we organized in 2019, 2017 and 2015.
* At this stage, there are no plans to allow registration online. We really apologize for that.
