The 11th Conference “Odours in the Environment,” organized by the German Association of Engineers (VDI) held on November 18-19, 2025, at the Wyndham Grand Salzburg Conference Centre in Salzburg, Austria, was a successful event. The presentations were of excellent quality, covering a wide range of topics such as odour dispersion modelling, odour emission and ambient air measurements, legal aspects, and practical case studies. The conference featured engaging keynote lectures, workshops, and discussions that attracted experts and professionals from the odour management field.

The Germans have been working for four years now on the new odour regulation included in Annex 7 of the TA Luft (Air Quality Law). This VDI conference addressed many of the questions and cases that have arisen during these four years of the law’s implementation. The number of cases is huge; in fact, three clarifications have already been issued to clarify certain points of the TALuft.

A new edition of the well-known NOSE2026 International Conference on Environmental Monitoring of Odours and VOCs will take place from 6 to 8 July 2026 in Bologna, Italy, hosted at the Royal Hotel Carlton. This event, organised by AIDIC (Italian Association of Chemical Engineering), is the 10th edition of the conference series and presents a key opportunity for industrial and academic experts globally to exchange the latest advances, technologies, and research in odour and volatile organic compounds monitoring and control.

The conference program includes plenary lectures by invited speakers, lecture presentations, and poster sessions. It aims to provide a comprehensive overview of state-of-the-art developments in environmental odour monitoring and control. The full collection of selected papers will be published in the Chemical Engineering Transactions Journal, indexed by SCOPUS and SCHOLAR, ensuring wide dissemination of the research presented.

The Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) is announcing its second specialty conference on odor science, scheduled for May 12-14, 2026. The event will be held at the Radisson Blu Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. This conference will cover a broad spectrum of odor-related topics including odor science, chemical forensics and source identification, field assessment and electronic sensing methods, odor sampling techniques, odor policy and regulation, modeling, control and mitigation strategies, as well as community impacts and best practices.

Interested presenters are encouraged to submit abstracts by November 14, 2025. Authors are advised to review the comprehensive Call for Abstracts document available on the conference website before completing their submissions. This ensures alignment with the conference themes and enhances the chance of acceptance.
